Anita Lobel
In Krakow, Poland June 2nd,1943 Anita Lobel was born. A Jewish child that survived through the holocaust, grew up to create over 8 books and illustrated more than 15 children books. Anita's work has gained much recognition even at a young age when graduating high school with a writing scholarship. Some accomplishments that Anita has achieved were the Caldecott Honor 198, three best illustrated selections in the New York Times, two Boston Glove Awards. Before Anita's successes, she was very much involved in the arts. She would get most inspiration for her books from Japanese theater. New York became her home when she moved from Poland to America, giving her many opportunities to succeed in life and become the well known author she is today.
