About the Book
This memoir written as a novel tells a haunting story about what it was like to live during the Holocaust. The character, Anita Lobel, was five years old when the Nazis decided to take over her hometown Krakow, Poland and was forced into hiding. She lived a childhood life filled with a fear while sleeping in the shadows with her brother and nanny. Soon the Nazis catch on to Anita and her brother in a Catholic Church. She was left with nothing but her remaining family and medals given to her by her nanny trying to be brave and strong for not only her brother but herself too.
